The first recorded wedding gown was worn by Princess Philippa, the daughter of Henry IV back in 1406.  Although many of us today, believe there is only one reason for wearing a white wedding dress versus a colored wedding dress, this too is a myth.  There are many myths behind this commonly followed tradition, such as;  white is the color of virgins, wearing a white wedding dress means your marriage will last and you chose a good man.  There is also a poem that has been floating around for many years, since the 1800s regarding these myths, which shows exactly how people thought back then.

“Married in White, you have chosen right
Married in Grey, you will go far away,
Married in Black, you will wish yourself back,
Married in Red, you will wish yourself dead,
Married in Green, ashamed to be seen,
Married in Blue, you will always be true,
Married in Pearl, you will live in a whirl,
Married in Yellow, ashamed of your fellow,
Married in Brown, you will live in the town,
Married in Pink, your spirit will sink.”

At the end of the day, the most important thing is you and your soon to be husband and how you both feel, what you both want.  It doesn’t matter what society says to do, when, where and how.  It’s your wedding and you generally only get to do this once… so sit back and think about what you want to walk down the aisle in… then go find it.
